Rabbit

  1.  Absolutely no rabbits will be allowed on grounds except those entered in        competition.

  2.  Single Rabbits must be owned and records kept as of June 1 of the current        year. All Rabbits entered in this division will compete against each            other. Single Rabbits are not eligible to compete in ANY Rabbit Market          Meat Class. Single Rabbit entries are NOT eligible for the Junior                Livestock Auction.

  3.  Exhibitor categories shall be as follows: Rabbit Entries (4-H and FFA            ONLY): Single Rabbit, Jr. Market Meat Rabbits. ONLY Jr. Market Meat              Rabbit Entries are eligible for the Junior Livestock Auction ONLY GRAND          CHAMPION MARKET MEAT RABBITS WILL SELL AT THE JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION.

  4.  Any breed or variety recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders                  Association is eligible to be shown. 

  5.  Exhibitors must furnish their own cups for water and feed. Exhibitors            MUST keep their pens and surrounding area clean and animals properly fed        and watered at all times and by 10:00 am at the latest daily. No feed is        allowed to remain in the barn. Exhibitors must place pen cleanings in the        designated area. Exhibitors are responsible for the Daily Care, Showing,        and Selling of their rabbits, unless otherwise approved by the                  superintendent.

  6.  Classes will be determined by the Superintendent and follow the NM State        Fair Class Rules. 

  7.  No person will be permitted to handle exhibits during judging without            permission of show officials. Any person interfering with a judge or            judging in any way will cause his/her exhibit to be disqualified.

  8.  Open Division: Everyone of all ages is invited to bring their animal for        exhibit. This applies to commercial or registered breeders. Open division        animals are for DISPLAY ONLY. No awards, premiums, Ribbons, etc, will be        awarded. Bring your own pens and your animal can be displayed, space            permitting.

  9.  Positively no diseased stock will be admitted to the show. Any stock            arriving sick will be returned to the owner or placed in quarantine.            Rabbits will be inspected daily and any rabbits showing signs of                contagious diseases will be removed 0r placed in quarantine.

  10. No exhibit unworthy of an award shall receive one, even though there is          no competition, nor shall any exhibit receive an award greater than its          merits justify.

  11. Rabbit Show and Showmanship will be on Thursday Starting at 10:30 AM in          the show ring. See Herdsman & Showmanship Rules. Showmanship classes will        be as follows:

      A. Junior Showmanship: Ages 9-13, Senior Showmanship: Ages 14 and above.           Each Junior and Senior winner will receive an award. See Showmanship             Rules. Junior & Senior Showmanship is for 4-H and FFA members only.

      B. Pee Wee Showmanship: Ages 5-9 (9 years and not enrolled in 4-H or FFA)           years of age. If there are sufficient entries these participants will           be judged. Pee Wee Showmanship will be held on Thursday, after the Jr.           Rabbit and Poultry Shows and Showmanship. Pee 14 Wee Showmanship fee:           None. All Pee Wee Showmanship entries must sign in with the                     superintendent between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on Wednesday. Pee Wee                   Showmanship availability will be determined by the Superintendent.

If you wish to take your Rabbit exhibit to the State Fair, please check with the State Fair Book at the Catron County Extension Office.

 

 

    MARKET MEAT PEN RABBIT

  1. Pen shall consist of three (3) rabbits under 70 days old. Minimum weight 3       pounds and maximum weight 5 pounds, same breed, age, and color. Breed           classification is not required. Rabbits to be weighed in the presence of         the judge.

  2. Only Grand Champion Jr. Market Meat pen will be eligible for the Jr.             Livestock Sale. Any Grand Champion Jr. Market Pen may sell another market       animal.

There will be a pancake breakfast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning 6:00 to 9:00 am
Various concessions will be available throughout the fair weekend
